We Are Fresas (2019) is a site-specific project conceived by Mexican artist Débora Delmar and originally commissioned for the IMMATERIAL performance programme at Material Art Fair 2019, Mexico City.
Delmar leads a cast of local teenagers through the fair, devising situations that were rehearsed and then performed, unannounced and throughout the fair venue.
Over four days, using Instagram to highlight these situations, Delmar and the teenage performers regualrly used live streaming to curate the social experience of the art fair.
At the conclusion of the fair – as part of the project With Higher Standards, taking place at Mexico City’s Hotel Casa Blanca and organized by Syndicate in collaboration with
Et Al., San Francisco – Delmar invited the teenage performers to loiter in the exhibition venue (two hotel rooms), restaged works from the fair, including a circle of Strawberry Cream Frappucinos, and displayed a selection of snapshots of the teenage participants in domestic frames.
